What is InfoCert?

Tinexta InfoCert is a European qualified trust service provider that offers electronic identification and qualified electronic signature solutions.

InfoCert's qualified electronic signature can be used remotely without a physical smart card or card reader. Once the appropriate certificate has been issued, users can electronically sign documents from a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

Signature and identification level

InfoCert provides qualified electronic signatures (QES) in accordance with the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation.

A qualified electronic signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature throughout the European Union. Before issuing a certificate, InfoCert verifies the identity of the certificate holder.

For remote identity verification, InfoCert offers, among other options:

  • video identification with an InfoCert agent;

  • automated Self-Q identification using a smartphone and an electronic identity document.

The available verification method depends on the user's identity document.

Who can use InfoCert?

InfoCert is not limited to Italian citizens or residents. The service supports identity verification for foreign users, and InfoCert accepts passports issued by all countries for obtaining a qualified digital certificate.

For certain European countries, identity verification using an electronic ID card is also supported. These countries include, among others, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Estonia, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, and others.

Key requirements and limitations

To obtain an InfoCert qualified electronic signature, users generally need to:

  • have a valid identity document supported by the selected verification method;

  • have access to a mobile phone capable of receiving one-time verification codes;

  • have an email address;

  • complete the required identity verification process;

  • obtain a qualified Tinexta certificate; and

  • use the InfoCert Sign app to manage and use the electronic signature.

You can obtain the certificate through Tinexta

The InfoCert Sign mobile app is available through the Google Play Market or Apple App Store

Document requirements depend on the identity verification method selected.

For video identification, users can complete a remote identity verification process with an InfoCert agent using a supported identity document, including a passport. During the verification, the agent checks the document against the applicant and confirms their identity.

Self-Q requires a smartphone running a supported operating system and a valid electronic passport or a supported European electronic ID card. InfoCert states that Self-Q supports smartphones running Android 7 or later and iOS 13 or later.

For Ukrainian citizens, the availability of a particular verification method therefore depends on the type of passport they hold. Self-Q requires a supported electronic passport, while InfoCert generally accepts passports issued by users' countries of origin for video identification.

The ability to use an InfoCert signature with a third-party service also depends on whether the relevant platform supports InfoCert as a qualified electronic signing method.

Now you have a clearer understanding 😉
