Effects of Deleting a Directory:

When a directory or a column of a directory is deleted, the associated template becomes invalid. You will need to select a new directory or directory column in the properties of the directory field.Envelope:
If you delete a directory or a directory column, the directory field will be disabled during envelope processing. The envelope containing this field will be automatically destroyed after the expiration date. However, if custom values are allowed, the directory field will function as a text field, allowing you to enter a custom text value.
